FforM (Fundraising for MacMillan) was formed in 2014 specifically to organise the first Hill Race in 2015. At that time the MacMillan Cancer Centre at Chesterfield Royal Hospital had not yet been built. The aim was to raise money to help with the project and to give the community another event to make life that little bit more interesting. After the Cancer Centre was opened we negotiated with MacMillan to ring fence any money we made for the running costs of the same facility. The Hill Race makes between £3000 and £4000 per year after costs . The amount we make is increasing as we find ways to raise more , reduce costs and as the races become more popular. We also have other smaller events where we raise funds. For example we like to get dressed up at Halloween and go around the local pubs with our collecting tins.
We aim to give the community an event in which members can participate, watch and enjoy. We do this to promote the Town and it's history and to allow people to contribute to the Cancer Centre, providing money for the extra things that the centre does to provide comfort and help for people in need of help.
